DDR3 vs DDR4 RAM which is better

Talk about the differences between DDR3 and DDR4 RAM. Let’s start with explaining what each one is. DDR stands for double data rate type 3 memory module or 4th generation dynamic random access memory module. The first thing we need to understand is that this refers to a type of RAM and not the capacity (such as 2GB). They come in different speeds such as 2400mhz or 2133mhz etc… The difference between these two types is the latency time and

DDR3 vs DDR4:

Let’s start with looking at the speed they are able to run at, this means how fast data can be read or written into the RAM in single second measurements. The speeds for both types are different depending upon their width but when it comes to transferring speeds, they are pretty much equal when taking into account both types being in double figures (1066mhz vs 2400mhz). When it comes down to access latency or wait times, they have a huge difference between one another. DDR4 has a latency of 15 nanoseconds (15 billionth of a second), whereas the DDR3 modules have 100 nanoseconds (100 billionth of a second).

This is where we see a huge jump in capability because it allows you to run things slightly faster. When looking at pin requirements, the DDR1 up until DDR3 all had 240 pins on each module and both cards had 1 notch or shape which made them difficult to install incorrectly.

The difference between these two types is that DDR3 has 240 pins while DDR4 has 260 pins which provide extra strength for when the RAM becomes unstable due to overclocking . This also means that DDR4 can be installed into motherboards which support DDR3 ram but it is not the other way round.

DDR4

DDR4 also has a lot more room to improve on compared to DDR3 memory because it offers a very high frequency of up to 4266mhz which is going to be able to handle anything for a long time. The downside with this though, is that it can only connect to one at a time and doesn’t have any real scalability factor as far as data goes.

DDR3

DDR3 on the other hand can reach higher speeds than DDR4 but over all they are both reliable forms of memory storage devices. DDR4 comes in two sizes which are 8GB or 16GB whereas DDR3 can hold just about any capacity between 1GB – 64GB depending upon the speed you opt for so if you want to be able to store a lot of data then DDR3 will win the race every time.

So now you know what each type of RAM is, let’s take a look at how they perform in real world situations. In terms of gaming speed and response times , Dual Dual Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory Module or known as DDDRDY synchronous dynamic random access memory module is going to give you better results thanks to its low latency time which means it can handle things with precision and accuracy.

However, if you are a more casual gamer who doesn’t need extremely fast speeds but just something that works well then DDR4 might be the way forward for you because it offers excellent value for money when it comes down to storing your data. Whatever your needs are, it doesn’t matter if you prefer DDR3 or DDR4 ram they both work in the same way yet have their own unique qualities which make them stand out from one another.

DDR4 is the new kid on the block and has made quite a statement when it comes to taking over from DDR3 ram. It’s faster, it’s stronger and doesn’t cost as much as you’d expect. But if we compare them side by side then we can see that they both have their own different qualities which make them stand out from one another.

So no matter whether you prefer DDR3 or DDR4 for your next upgrades , everything will always be taken care of and work better than expected. When comparing the two types of RAM one thing I couldn’t avoid noticing was how similar they appeared to those who didn’t know what they were looking at exactly .
