What if you lose your power button? You can still turn on your laptop without it! This post is going to teach you how. We’ll also cover some other ways to turn on a Dell laptop, so stay tuned for more information.
First, try the obvious. Check your power cord and make sure it is plugged in all the way to a working outlet. Press the plug into the outlet firmly until you hear a click.
If that didn’t work, then your next option is to hold down the <Fn> key and press the <Power> button. As soon as this combination of buttons is pressed, you will see a single light flash on your laptop. This means that it’s booting up normally, even though there’s no power button! You can release these keys once you see the flash from the light after pressing <Fn + Power>. Do not keep holding them down continuously or press them repeatedly while booting up because this could your laptop further.
If you’re still having trouble turning on your Dell laptop, try the following steps:
-Remove the battery and reconnect it after a minute
-Press and hold both the <Fn> and <Esc> keys for about 5 seconds before releasing them. Then, press the <Power> button. Finally, release all three buttons at the same time
-On some laptops, you can simply hold down the <D> key while pressing the <Power> button. This will start up your computer even if it is off

A few other ways to turn on a Dell laptop include pressing the <Fn> and <F2> keys simultaneously or by pressing the <Esc> key while pressing the <Power> button. Another way is to remove the battery, disconnect it, plug it in again within a minute, and then turn on your laptop once you see a light. If these options don’t work either, you can contact us for more help.
A other way is to use the touchpad. To do this, swipe up from the bottom edge of the touchpad with two fingers. Finally, if you have a Windows 10 device, you can also use Cortana. To do this, say “Hey Cortana” or “Cortana, wake up my PC.”
Turn On Laptop Using An External Keyboard
Making use of a keyboard to power on a laptop is a setting that most laptops have. However, by default, this is always disabled. Prior to the power button developing faults, the user or owner should have taken preventive measures by enabling this feature to ensure the use of this method.
To enable the use of an external keyboard to power on the laptop, you need to first access the BIOS settings.
Step.1: Go to the “Settings” option in the “Start” menu
Step.2: Select the option for “Update & Security”
Step.3: Read through the options on your left and select “Recovery”
Step.4: You will see a tab open with two sections.
Step.5: Select “Restart Now” under “Advanced Setup”
Step.6: A new window will pop up
Step.7: Choose “Troubleshoot”
Step.8: Select the “Advanced Options”
Step.9: Go to the “Power Management” or “ACPI Management” tab and press “Enter”
Step 10: Check for a setting “Power On By Keyboard” or “Wake On Keyboard” or something similar
Step 11: Use the “+” or “-” minus key to enabling the option
Step 12: Select a preferred key to power on the laptop
Step 13: Save and exit using the F10 key.
