In this post, I will be showing you how to enable your touchpad on your laptop. In order to do this, there are a few steps that you need to take in order for the process to work correctly. The first thing that you want to do is make sure that the system has been updated.
This can easily be done by going into settings and looking at what updates are available. Once there have been any updates made, restart the system and go back into settings again. From here if should look as though it has already installed an update which is most likely why it was not enabled in the first place! Next up all we need to do is scroll down until we find “Mouse & Touchpad” under devices and click on it
Mouse Options
. Once you have done this click on the “Additional Mouse Options” which will bring up a new window where all you need to do is select “Enable” from the drop down box next to “Touchpad”. Once you have clicked that box, just exit out of everything and go back to your desktop! You can now use your touchpad just as normal
Touchpad on laptop using keyboard
Touchpad is a computer input device in the form of a specialized pointing device that uses the sense of touch to perform pointing and scrolling functions instead of via a mouse or trackball. The most common variety are laptops, notebooks, netbooks, tablets and smartphones.
Touchpads operate as one-dimensional relatively low-resolution image sensors. Some touchpads can also detect how much pressure is being applied. Two-finger dragging enables moving the pointer or dragging an object on the screen.
Step 1: Click Start > Control Panel > Mouse
Step 2: Enable the ‘Device Settings’ option at the top then click on it. Then select your laptop’s touchpad device from the list then click Apply to save your settings.
Step 3: Click on the ‘Pointer Options’ to adjust the touchpad pointer speed and double-click settings. For example, to move it faster or slower, change the move speed from 1 through 5 then click Apply .
Step 4: Adjusting Touch Sensitivity : To indicate an area on a slide that you want to use for playback controls , point to the area where you want a control bar to appear, then press SHIFT+F10. Dragging this slider will increase or decrease how much pressure is required before Windows 10 recognizes your finger movement as input .
Step 5: To enable/disable the function of touchpad, just use the Fn+F5 keys together. Then you can disable the touchpad in case that you don’t need it .
Similarly, when in Full screen Mode (FN+ESC) ,the FN key will not in affect but when in window mode (without full screen), activate FN to get access to the keyboard shortcuts like FN + F5 etc
Step 6: To disable touchpad function completely, just disable the TouchPad by using keyboard shortcut FN+F10. To enable it again, use same combination or Ctrl+Shift+F10 hotkey .
