Different types of laptop chargers

You know that keeping it charged is important. But did you know there are different types of laptop chargers? In this blog post, we’ll discuss the different types of laptop chargers and how to choose the best one for you. So if you’re looking for a new laptop charger or just want to learn more about them, keep reading!

While all laptop chargers have one end that connects to the laptop and another end that plugs into a power outlet, different types of laptop chargers vary in their other features. In this section, we’ll talk about the four main varieties: OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), aftermarket replacements for lost or broken originals, USB-C compatible options, and universal adapters.

OEM Laptop Chargers

These are the original manufacturer-made chargers for your specific model. You can get them directly from the manufacturer’s site or authorized dealers–for example, Apple charges $79 for an OEM charger for its 13″ MacBook Pro laptops. This is typically your best option because it provides optimum performance with minimal risk to your device.

Aftermarket Laptop Chargers

If you lose or damage your original charger, an aftermarket replacement may be a good option. These are chargers made by third-party companies to be compatible with a specific model of laptop. They often come at a lower price than OEM chargers and can be found at online retailers and other stores that sell electronics. Keep in mind, though, that not all aftermarket replacements are created equal. Some may not be as reliable as OEM chargers and could potentially damage your device. So it’s important to do your research before purchasing one.

USB-C Compatible Chargers

As laptops transition to using USB-C ports, more and more chargers are becoming USB-C compatible. This type of charger has a USB-C port on one end and a traditional power outlet plug on the other. So if you have a laptop with a USB-C port, it’s worth checking to see if there’s a compatible charger available. USB-C chargers can offer faster charging times and more ports than traditional chargers. However, they can also be more expensive.

Universal Laptop Chargers

As the name suggests, universal laptop chargers are those that can be used with multiple models of laptops. They typically come with several interchangeable adapter plugs so that they can work with different power outlets around the world. While this versatility is convenient, it often comes at the cost of lower performance and may not be as safe as other options.

Most common type of power adapter for laptops these days. It is compatible with almost all brands of laptops and notebooks; however, there are usually two versions of this kind of adapter – one for 15-inch notebooks and another for 17-inch notebooks. As its name implies, this type of charger has a barrel that couples into the wall socket and then attaches to the notebook via an extension cord (usually four or five feet long). Most barrel plugs run off of 110-volt AC current, but there are also 220-volt versions available.

Laptop charger type C

This type of laptop charger is also known as a “figure 8” adapter. It plugs into the wall socket like a barrel adapter, but it has two figure-8 connectors – one for the power cord and one for the laptop. This type of charger is not as common as the barrel type, but it can be found on some older laptops and notebooks.

Typically used with Dell laptops and notebooks, this type of battery charger has a three-pronged plug that fits into a standard U.S. outlet. It also has a proprietary connector that attaches to the laptop’s battery pack.

This laptop charger was designed by Apple and is used with all of their laptops and notebooks. The power adapter has a square-shaped plug that plugs into the wall socket and a circular connector that attaches to the laptop.

This type of laptop charger is usually used with Lenovo laptops, but it can also be found on some other brands. It has a barrel-shaped plug that fits into the wall socket and a proprietary connector that attaches to the laptop.
